visual studio 2010 crashing after install

I've read a post dated back in 2009 regarding the very same problem I am now experiencing. As I open any XAML based file my visual studio crashes. Has this bug not been sorted out?

I can try my best to give you steps. I was asked by management to create an install package and had to then install "InstallAware" as I have formatted my machine with the very same problem. Everything was successful and I created my install package.

I then opened up visual studio a week later (I use it everyday) starting a WPF project and VS crashed. If i load anything XAML related it crashes, even a document unrelated to the project. I removed virtually everything from my toolbox thinking it was perhaps something in there, but I haven't loaded anything else.

There's unfortunately not many steps.

I have the same problem as Derrick.

I have the same confugration (Win 7 x64 GER) and did the installation in the same order: first VS 2010 then VS SP1 and after that InstallAware 2012 (with Visual Studio Addin).

After that I experience the following problem(s):
When opening a document in VS that has to do with xml (xaml, xml, etc.) Visual Studio crashes!

Right now I try to get rid of the problem...

I know my suggestion is not one you would want to try but could you try uninstalling IA from your machine and then try to open the same documents in VS? Does the crash fix itself?

If you look in the Windows event viewer are there any error messages listed that offer some additional evidence of what might be happening?

@bokkie: unfortunatelly not! I also have no event logs to these chrashes...

After deinstalling IA the problem is still there. I repaired VS2010 and reinstalled VS2010SP1 afterwards. That resolved the xml issues in VS for me.

Probably is has something to do with MSXML lib?
