There is a longer thread about this issue over here.

Even though it could be solved with 3 lines of code ...

Re: Multiple problems with APPX Builder

After playing around with the settings for the setup I discovered that I had a leading zero in the version number that caused the first error message (error code was actually 108). With activated authentication I then get error 180. But we are using a valid sha2 certificate. So, that cannot be the r...

Re: Multiple problems with APPX Builder

- Which is the file-version of the "IaUwpAppx.dll"? This file is from 2016-12-30 and its version number is 1.0.3.200. - Which is the version of your IA X5 installation as reported in "Add Remove Program" (under Control Panel)? 22.02.0.2016 - Which is the build number of your IA ...

Multiple problems with APPX Builder

So far, I was only able to convert a very basic newly created native project, including only one executable, one help file and one shortcut, to an APPX package. Already the second try with our company name and a real name for the package produced an error 180. In our real life projects I already rem...

Build Appx for UWP and Windows 7

Under Windows 7 the menu item "Build Appx for UWP" is available, but when you click on it, you get the following dialog: Appx-Error.png The feature cannot be installed, because it's not offered in the setup dialog. I assume it's because you can only run it from Windows 10, but then I would...

Re: Write into Text File needs a 'no BOM' option

Dear Francesco, can you tell me a reason? Look, I don't care much anymore that InstallAware now writes its own files in UTF8 with BOM. Most users will have made the necessary adjustments by now. But I don't understand why you're forcing on us a file encoding with BOM for external files, while writin...

Re: Write into Text File needs a 'no BOM' option

Currently, the "write to text file" command only stores data using the UTF format. As I have already said previously; it is not a question of fixing it, but instead, to have this option with future IA versions. Several versions later this option is still not implemented. Files are still b...

Re: Animations and sliding - dissable

If I may throw in my 2 cents here, our customers didn't like this sliding effect either, and actually it only looks good with simple themes. As soon as one uses more graphically sophisticated themes the sliding begins to jitter and blur. So I had to go through all projects and disable the effect. So...

Getting estimated size and writing it to the registry

InstallAware setups don't write the value EstimatedSize into the registry. So, we would like to do this ourselfs. On the destination form there is a value for "Space Required" and a StaticText control that receives information from "Total required space". Is there a way to get th...

Re: X4 Code signing fails

The signature algorithm is sha256RSA, the signature hash algorithm is sha256.

The signing works with X3 and from command line using C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\bin\x86\signtool.exe.

X4 Code signing fails

So far we didn't have any success with code signing after upgrading to X4. At first we didn't change the setup script at all and it failed, without saying why. Than we edited the script by applying a new certificate file and password, with the same result. The same new certificate works as expected ...

Re: Code signing with SHA-256

“D:\Documents\!Notes\Installer\dist\Release\Single\MSCodeSignTestSetup.exe”
doesn't have correct quotes, but so called left and right double quotation marks.

Might have been the culprit.
