Re: Apply Uninstall does not delete everything

My software creates quite a few user data files, so in the uninstall I give the option of Removing User Data to make sure there is a clean uninstall. You can have the installer double check the existence of files left behind and script it to delete them. I have noticed on Windows 10, if an executabl...

Re: Restart Windows Explorer plugin.

Just use it with the Desktop Handle and then 0 to unlock. I use it every so often displaying complex dialogs.

Re: Not sure what's up with this Wikipedia thing

Peter, Your opinion is a good one and one I agree with. "Relevance" is a poor and subjective excuse.

Re: Restart Windows Explorer plugin.

...I was going to take it a step further using LockWindowUpdate so you wouldn't get the flash when Explorer is restarted but haven't went there yet.

Not sure what's up with this Wikipedia thing

Wikipedia must be on crack or was paid off by you know who. They have Wise in there and when their ship sank and MSI became supreme, it was InstallAware that made MSI usable "Without Rocket Science". As an old Wise User, that's where I came from. There are multiple Installers out there, bu...

Re: Restart Windows Explorer plugin.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. Been on vacation and goofing off, but yes, I'm doing pretty much the same thing... using System; using System.Diagnostics; using System.Threading; namespace RestartExplorer { internal class RestartExplorer { public RestartExplorer() { } private static bool IsExplor...

Re: Code Signing Problem

I was just using the Installaware Code Signing Tool which does seem to be working now, but it doesn't work on build within the installer. I tried using the tool 3 days in a row and failed every time for two of them and today, magically it started working. Not sure what was up with that. Might of bee...

Re: Restart Windows Explorer plugin.

Thanks Peter! I do shell extensions so that will be handy. I attached an EXE I've been using to accomplish the task.

Code Signing Problem

Trying to figure out what's going on with X4 Code Signing.

I'm using a PFX file and with X3 it worked fine.
The first build of X4, code signing failed in the installer but worked with the Code Signing tool.
I just updated to the latest build and code signing fails all together.

Any ideas on this?

Re: X4 Features

Forgive my asking but I can appreciate what it can do but what exactly is the problem it solves ? Is it a bit like saying that if I create an installer which copies a text file onto a user's machine, then I could use the social networking feature to tell everybody on farcebook that I've done so? I'...

Re: X4 Features

I first found IA back in 2009 sometime when it was version 9. At the time the forums were fronted by Michael Nesmith who had a fiery and somewhat mercurial, bellicose, belligerent and intransigent approach to the way he dealt with users. :D I can't forget him as he kicked me off here once after he ...

Re: X4 Features

You blokes with UHD are spoiled. Yes we are :). For myself, this coming release is probably about the biggest one in quite awhile for features I could really use. You've been around here for along time, too. I just noticed a post I did back in 2010 and can't remember how many versions I've had, but...

Re: X4 Features

When I saw the release notes, that's pretty much what I felt like...getting a new toy :D. I'm guessing the IDE Zoom is way to view areas of the script larger, which would be quite handy on a UHD display, especially with my eyes. I have a project I was just finishing up that I could make some good us...
