Build Progress Messages

Hi Support Team,

in case I start a build the 'Build Progress' window provides a lot of messages. As soon as the build succeeds the window Closes.

Is there a way to view the messages thereafter?

Best regards
Michael

Dear Michael,

unfortunately not from the IDE.

Using the "InstallAware command line build utility - MiaBuild" instead, it's possible to specify the path where to save full build output.
For more details on the "miabuild" tool consult the IA documentation.

Hope this helps you.

Regards

Michael,

It takes a little practice but you can also try this: as soon as your build starts be as quick as you can and click your mouse on the vertical scrollbar in the build window. Click the left mouse button and hold it down. You can then scroll up and down the build window and view the results. :)

Otherwise, do what Francesco suggests and run miabuild and redirect the output to a file.

That's quite correct - but this will not prevent the window from disappearing immediately when build succeeds, correct? Or do I need to spend some more time to gain more practice?

I will not have a problem using command line build utility - I have a FinalBuilder license which provides to build IA setups that way. The problem is that I'm working on plug-in development. For that purpose I start IA from Delphi IDE in order to be able to debug my IDE and runtime DLL's in a convenient way. And in just this situation the log is very interesting...

Would you mind to consider the introduction of a 'pin' icon (similar to MS Outlook durinc sync)? Pin set/not set will keep the window open / close it after build...

Best regards
Michael

Correct. At least the window won't disappear until you release the mouse button. Think of of it as holding the cat by its tail. Once you let go... :D

Thanks, your're right. Holding the scrollbar slider button prevents the window from closing. This way I can scroll up and down to inspect the loc. I'll buy another mouse to additinaly grab the other slider to be able to additionally scroll vertically ;-)

Nervertheless, the possibility to prevent the auto-close mentioned in my post before would be useful...

Thanks for your help.

Best regards
Michael
