Group Policy vs Web Updates

What are some of the advantages/disadvantes of silent deployments via Group Policy vs IA's Web Update mechanism?

Some of our customers have Group Policy infrastructure inplace, so for them it is a no-brainer: all they want from us is a Group Policy msi. But in general if a company has nothing in place what are the considerations to take into account when deciding between IA's Web Update mechanism and Group Policy architecture.
