Single Compressed exe vs offline Web build

Hi!
So, I'm looking to make my installation a single file package.
Ideally, I feel like I would be proceeding with the "Single File" build option, however.. If I proceed with this, I find that on maintenance mode. I have to locate the original setup sources, and selecting this installation folder where the installation file is located does not work.
Question 1. Why is this? What folder should I be selecting in this phase?
I had seen another forum post saying that single file builds are not recommended for setups which offer maintenance mode..
Question 2. Would you mind explaining why?
Alternately, I'm considering building my installation package as a offline web build. To give more context, I'm not actually planning for my installation to be an online web launched executable or resource.. I'm planning for this single file to just be distributable (not rely on anything online or web related).
I've read this on the IA help about offline web builds -
This option is primarily intended for use in quick deployment and testing scenarios. If you do not intend to download web media blocks during installation, Compressed or Uncompressed builds will always deliver better performance.
Question 3. What performance does the offline web build lack in? Would you mind further elaborating on "Compressed or uncompressed builds will always deliver better performance." I'd like to know what the shortcomings are for this option.
Question 4. I'd ideally like my installation to be a single file distributable, it is not gona be web launched or web reliant, and I'd like there to be a maintenance feature... What's your recommendation?
