Testing installs built from the new version, X6. Sadly we have to support REALLY REALLY old operating systems and when testing the install on Windows XP 32-bit (SP2) it just hangs at the point of starting the install.



I ran the setup with /l=<logfile> and the output is as follows; there is a bunch of variable and property settings before this which I did not include here. I can sent the complete file if needed.

Any ideas why the install will not run on XP anymore? The previous installs I built in X5 did run on XP-32 bit.

Dear Sheri,

I just tried to replicate what you reported and honestly, I am not able to see any problem. I used one of my personal old projects (originally released with IA 2012) and the setup generated by the IA X6 build gets installed without problem on XP SP2 (x86).

I can only suppose that your issue seems to have a different cause.

OK, thanks, good to know it is supposed to work at least. The same project was working with X5 last week so it did seem strange.

I was able to duplicate this behaviour here using a vanilla project created using the Project Wizard in X6 that only copies a single PDF into the install folder and creates a single shortcut.

When I get to the Progress dialog, the progress meter immediately goes to full and then hangs at that point. The Cancel button is enabled, and I can click it and say yes, cancel the install but it does not cancel. I have to kill it from the Task Manager.

In both cases I am created a single compressed setup.exe. For my product install, it is double-signed. The test one has Authenticode unchecked for now.
