Startup screen

Postby SITL » Tue Mar 28, 2017 6:27 am

Dear Francesco,

In the startup screen, InstallAware is displaying following message,

Installer is verifying the contents of this setup package. This may take a moment.
But the word "moment" is not shown.

How do i increase the size of the text box or screen itself ?
(In some slow machines, it stays for 20 to 30 seconds.)

Appreciate your help.
Regards

Dear SITL,

please have a look at the following link where the same question was already discussed.
https://www.installaware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10648&hilit=resource+editor

Alternatively, you may change the text that gets displayed. This is defined with the Shared Strings.

Hope this helps you.

Dear Francesco,

Thanks for your reply.
The link you shared has this line -

you may try to update the file dependent.exe in your main InstallAware folder using a resource editor. This file contains all initialization dialogs.

Frankly, i did not understand sir.
As far as my understanding goes, Resource editor means User interface editor ( Dialogs/Screens editor ).

I ran dependent.exe and I'm getting following error.
Download corrupt, please obtain a fresh copy of this file.

Where do i find these initialization dialogs ?
(I mean path, physical location).

Appreciate your support.

Dear SITL,

a Resource Editor is a tool capable of Viewing and Editing, the resources included with a binary file (eg. DLL / EXE).

A resource editor is included with Visual Studio or there are many others third-party tools that do the same.

Dear Francesco,

I Installed InstallAware X5 on a new machine and built my project.
But the starup screen title is showing as InstallAware insted of My product title.
I edited dependent.exe and made the required changes, still my changes are not reflected in the final build.
Urgent, please guide me.
suggest me alternative ways/methods.
what are the things i have to verify ?

Dear SITL,

as I have already said previously, if you need to modify the Text displayed by the initialization dialog, you only need to update/modify the "Shared Strings".
https://www.installaware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10565&p=40167&hilit=Shared+Strings#p40167

For more details, please consult the IA documentation.

Hope this helps you.
