Suggestion: Add more walk-throughs & detailed technical doco

Before I start I think the product is excellent. I’ve only been using it for the past week and surprised myself by managing to package and deploy a number of applications and distribute with success out to over 1000 workstations via GPO.

It may already be there but some real world examples with step by step documented instructions would go a long way. I seen one based around a DotNet deployment? Getting more of this would be great for us beginners.

The help system is a little week in some areas and failing that I can’t seem to find any other resources apart from your site for help. I guess this will come with maturity.

The other thing which set me back a few hours was the whole web update function. Not being a wizard with IIS, it was not until I wrote some debug code to the web update function that I realised it couldn’t even read the update.ini file at the URL I had provided. After checking the IIS realised something was wrong and found the answer on Google. I see there has been discussion about this in your forum before. I checked four of our corporate 2003 IIS servers and non of them had extra mime types added. This could be worth a mention in the doco somewhere.

Like I said above, I think the product is great, love being able to get under the hood with the scripting and slowly getting my head around it.

Cheers

Which areas would you like to see more walkthroughs on?

My 2 cents:

- Deployment of web applications/services, most notably the configuration of IIS
- Theming. In essence, how to make your own company theme and use it properly (without overwriting the original..random example  )
