Microsoft Windows Installer Runtime

Hi. I just upgraded from a prior version of IA and converted a project. I see that the Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 is checked in the Runtimes in my IAx11 project. I can't go back to my prior version of IA to see if/why I checked that Runtime. I tried to search this forum on "Microsoft Windows Installer Runtime", but they are too common to be searched on. So, I have to ask the dumb question: Why would I need to install a Microsoft Windows Installer?

Thanks.

All most recent OS's include "Microsoft Windows Installer" RTMs natively.

You may need it only if you have to support legacy OS's. So maybe you do not need it. If I recall correctly, Windows XP did not include such runtime, while Windows installer 3.1 was available with Windows XP sp3 natively.
Hope this helps you.

Also check if you are including v 4.5 of the "Microsoft Windows Installer" RTMs. You may need this in case your supported OS doesn't include it.
