myah0.cpl in C:\Windows\System32

Postby stefanr » Mon Dec 27, 2021 3:18 am

Dear InstallAware Team,

I've just installed the newest Single File Version of InstallAware
Version: X14 (31.09.00.2021)
Released to Manufacturing on: 12.15.2021
I've installed all options.

After installation there are 11 files in the System32 folder
C:\Windows\System32\myah0.cpl
C:\Windows\System32\myah1.cpl
C:\Windows\System32\myah2.cpl
C:\Windows\System32\myah3.cpl
C:\Windows\System32\myah4.cpl
C:\Windows\System32\myah5.cpl
C:\Windows\System32\myah6.cpl
C:\Windows\System32\myah7.cpl
C:\Windows\System32\myah8.cpl
C:\Windows\System32\myah9.cpl
C:\Windows\System32\myah10.cpl

These files causes the Control Panel to have 11 empty entries as you can see in the attached screen shot.

Operating System: Windows 10 21H2

The problem was not existing in the version from 2021-11-15

best regards,
Stefan

Such files are "just" temporary files generated during the installation process. Typically, these get automatically removed at the first successive system reboot. They can be manually removed without any problem, because they are not used or necessary by the installed product. In addition, nothing has changed in this implementation in our recent product versions. Consequently, I suggest you to verify what may be the effective cause of your issue.

Hi Francesco,

thank you for your response. I tested the installation a bit more, including running the setup in a virtual machine.
It seemed that I did not wait long enough. When I do wait 10 to 20 minutes, setup completes and the files are deleted.
So you can ignore the post.

best regards,
Stefan

Is there anyway to stop the creation of these files in the Windows\System32 folder? Every time these are created, my AV program blocks the installer.

The proper resolution here is to contact your A/V vendor so they may handle their buggy way of handling this false positive which is apparently breaking their software.
