Camelot Plug-In Problem and Workaround
Posted: Wed Aug 30, 2006 8:38 pm
An issue has been identified with Camelot Plug-Ins (the issue was identified in Eval, but may be affecting other plug-ins as well).
Some of these plug-ins do not properly respond to the CompileTimeBuild function when called from the IDE. They do not properly populate the value of the Fetch variable, which can lead to incorrect and unnecessary prompts for source media at install/maintenance/uninstall time.
Because the value of the Fetch variable is not set by some of these plug-ins, reproduction of issues encountered may be difficult. If the last called plug-in before the affected plug-ins does not require access to source media, the problem will not manifest itself. On the other hand, if the last called plug-in does require source media access, these plug-ins will also erroneously prompt for source media.
A workaround has been built into the main InstallAware IDE, since the Camelot Plug-Ins are very popular with our developers! Licensed users may regenerate and download, and then reinstall their license installers to take advantage of the fix. It is not necessary to reinstall the entire InstallAware product.
An updated trial download will also be made available for unlicensed users soon. They may reinstall their trial product to benefit from this fix.
