InstallAware Update with Internet Explorer 7 Runtime

Postby MichaelNesmith » Sun Oct 22, 2006 3:07 pm

A new update for InstallAware is available - version 6.06. To obtain this update:

    1) Download the latest trial version from the public website, and install it. Your old version, if any, will be removed automatically.
    2) If you have a license, regenerate your license from your customer account, and install it to finalize your upgrade. If you don't already have a license, get one at www.installaware.com/buy.asp

New Features in this update:

    1) Internet Explorer 7 detection has been enhanced to support the RTM build of version 7.
    2) Internet Explorer 7 may now be installed as a runtime of your product.
    3) The new Internet Explorer 7 Application Runtime plug-in correctly handles all complex installation scenarios, including different service pack requirements on Server 2003 and Windows XP, Windows Genuine Advantage Validation, support for advanced install options, and more.

Note: The total overhead the Internet Explorer 7 runtime adds to your setup is 14MB. This is 1 MB smaller than the two seperate 15 MB installers that are provided for Windows XP and Server 2003. So, with only a 14MB package, you get to install Internet Explorer 7 on all supported platforms - which would normally require a 30 MB package.

Ehancements in this update:

    1) Setup wizards no longer momentarily flicker the variable names used within during switching between dialogs.
    2) The Run Program command correctly returns -1 if a specified application cannot be run.
    3) The Run Program As command correctly passes multiple environment variables, in a $NEWLINE$ delimited list.
    4) The Get Environment Variable command may now obtain the list of all current environment variables and return them in a $NEWLINE$ delimited list.
    5) When the system is shutting down, setup wizards that cannot be closed now maximize and focus themselves on the end-user desktop. This helps users identify processes they need to complete before a shutdown can occur, such as completing an update task scheduling.
