bug report: Install files not recreated in IA5.3

Hi,

We recently had a problem in a setup generated by IA 5.3 where someone installing our product also had a program running that cleaned up "temp" files. Some of the files deleted by that program were the extracted contents of the setup. Needless to say, the setup didn't care for that much and failed.

However, rerunning the setup didn't recreate those files so it became impossible to complete the setup on that computer. It always gave the following error once it started copying files.

Code: Select all

Error

Error reading from file:
C:\\DOCUME~1\\ALLUSE~1\\APPLIC~1\\{5AB2B~1\\OFFLINE\\IFTRITLTGALABLADMCPTFIRTASLFFF0\\datadynamics.reports.config.  Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

Abort Retry Ignore

We eventually fixed it by running the install on VM, then copied the extracted files from there to where IA expected the data files to reside.

Is this something that has been fixed in 6.0?

Thanks,

James

This has nothing to do with Install Files, but the initial self extraction process.
If you have a program that's continually deleting files that go in the temp folder, you will run into not only this problem, but many others as well.
The solution is to stop this program for the duration of the setup.
