Building merge modules?

Postby zchris » Fri Jul 01, 2005 3:02 am

As far as I know InstallAware has no option to build merge modules.

I have a set of components that needs to be included in a lot of setups. They are not just files but require custom registry settings and registration.

What is the best way to package these components without copying the script source to every setup?

Will you add merge module support in the future?

Thanks!

There are several ways this can be addressed: by using include scripts, merge module support, or light-mode setups.

Light mode setups have already been implemented and will be available with the next update to InstallAware. They are InstallAware setups that exclude the runtime, and designed to be invoked from another "master" InstallAware setup.

I am using InstallAware 2005. Does it support include scripts? How do I use them?

You mentioned merge modules - will the next InstallAware support creating merge modules?

When do you plan on releasing the update?

Thanks!

None of these are currently available. Light mode setups will be available with InstallAware 2005 Service Pack 1. As for others, I do not yet have word from the development team regarding their status.
