In the Visual pane, when specifying files and folders you can’t create a new folder except by referring to a real folder on your own machine. What I was trying to do was add $TARGETDIR$\\Bin and $TARGETDIR$\\Source. I was able to do this using the code editor obviously but would have liked the simpler visual method.

You can always rename the target folder of a file, added to any folder, in the visual view. To do this, just double-click the file, and set the target folder to the value you desire. When you click OK, the new folder will be available in the list of folders on the target machine.
