Hello,
I'm currently evaluating IA and I'm curious if I can have Microsoft host the framework download instead of hosting it on our servers.

It appears that IA wants to use a version of the framework that is repackaged by the tool, as when I put in the Microsoft direct link I get a message stating that it will not uncompress correctly.

Is there anyway around this, or does IA need a version of the framework that is packaged by itself?

From my experience IA expects you to be downloading a 7zip compressed web media block file. You need to host the compressed 7zip version of the .NET framework on one or more of your servers. It's advantageous in that the 7zip integrates nicely with IA (as web download, as part of a monolithic installer or as part of a CD distro) and is only downloaded if required plus is around 17Mb ... compared to the MS framework which is 22+Mb.

If you wanted to do it differently, I daresay you could test for the presence of the NET framework and then display a dialog directing the user to the appropriate location (or even host the original framework installer on your own server) ...
