H4nd0, this isn't an attack... so please don't take it that way.. it's just another point of view...
1) "Only 260Mb?"not everyone has a cable connection
2) and some of us have monthly data caps on their internet connection and big costs if we go over them.
3) given 1 and 2, not being able to see what is changed/fixed before downloading is a problem. ie - I need the opportunity to evaluate the fixes and changes before downloading the product and reading the Help.
4) does InstallAware really want everyone downloading every update they put out? Surely there must be a bandwidth cost to the company.
5) isn't it easier for InstallAware to list a changelog, once per update, than for every customer to download and install each update? ie 'x' customers spending an optimal '12 minutes' vs 1 IA person spending 15min - 1 hr writing a change log and posting it? In H4nd0's words, "Is it really that onerous?"
6) given that InstallAware has the ability to Patch and Update, it seems non-sensical that the product completely uninstalls as well as requiring the download of all the relevant Application Runtimes for each point release or SP release. (Perhaps I'm missing something there... but I really can't see why I have to d/l the .Net Framework 2.0 package every time IA updates their program... it doesn't make sense)
InstallAware, please don't take this the wrong way, I love your product, think it's brilliant. And I love the fact that you are constantly improving and updating the product...hell, I check back every few days to see whats been happening... I'd just love a little more info and an easier update process.
Cheers
