Check if MSDE 2000 is on a system.

Hello,
Is there any way to check if MSDE 2000 is on a system? If yes: Backup data (databases), remove MSDE 200, install SQL 2005 and replace data. If not: Install SQL 2005.
Something like that. Is that possible?

Use Check Service to reliably locate the MSDE 2000 instance using its service name. If found, use the SQL plug-ins to run scripts which backup and later restore the data. And of course the SQL Express runtime can install the new version for you too.
