Hello:

I created an application with a version of 1.0, then changed a file to a new version and created another setup with a version of 1.0.1 - created a patch against 1.0.

WHen the update was detected by my test system, xp, athlon, I received this error in a command prompt:

---------------------------

It seems the setup engine file is corrupt. This can occur if the InstallAware binaries got corrupted on your system, which in turn can occur due to various reasons:

- cracks,
- corrupt hard disks,
- corrupt memory

Among others.

For the corrupt setup engine file. Which file specifically? Is this is update file downloaded from the url specificed for updates or a file(s) put in place by the original install.

Since I've done this now on three different computers will the same result - the original install works fine and the application works - it's just the update downloaded from our web server, I'm sure it's not memory or hard drive issues.

This would lead to the downloaded setup file but I'll need clarification here.

I'm willing to purchase the installer now based on what I've seen but must have updates working correctly - if purchasing will facilitate more targeted technical support - I'm game for that.

6.6 error

Ok, upgraded to 6.6 and now I don't get the error that I did receive. However, when I click to install the downloaded update, I get a flash of a command prompt and no install.

Version number, size, date, etc are different on the .exe that's being patched - told the system to patch both 1.0.0 and 1.0.1 versions - can I just use x.x.x or does it have to be x.x.x.x?
