Version of Windows Installer used...

Postby [MS]Mark » Wed Dec 08, 2004 7:35 am

Just doing some more testing and I have some merge modules from Crystal Reports that bring up an error saying 'Requires a MSI 1.1 Database'. Also, the MSI database validation reports that the version is 1.

Is there anyway of getting a newer MSI database/installer used?

InstallAWARE uses/requires/installs MSI version 2.0. The databases all include the additional tables that are available in version 2.0 and above.

I am not sure why you are getting this error. If you let me know where I can download the Crystal merge modules which are raising this error, I can investigate the issue further.

'Merge Modules for Crystal Reports 10 RDC Deployments' under http://support.businessobjects.com/fix/ ... les.asp#02

I'm using the runtime and reportengine MSMs.

It's odd as other Install creators I'm testing don't have a problem - only InstallAware.

Seems it is a known issue with the reportengine MSM:

I just spent 2 hours clawing my way through this...with no resolution, so I am very glad to hear the problem is not in InstallAWARE  Strange though, because you did explicitly mention that other tools worked fine with it :?:
