changing skin of the update dialogs

Postby kehagiem » Sat Apr 18, 2009 3:18 pm

Is it possible to change the Theme of the update dialogs and use the same that is used for the other dialogs?

The themes do not have built-in dialogs for this, but with a bit of copy paste in the dialog editor, you can turn them into any theme you like!

Thanks.

Should I start from the theme I want dialog and "create" the update dialogs or vice versa?

Well one of the very good things about InstallAware is that nothing is hard coded - not even the update script.

So you could actually take this opportunity to review your own update requirements and build not just a new skin for your dialogs, but also to tweak the update script to your liking, and along with it the logic behind the update dialogs, of course.

Depending on the amount of logic you need to preserve in the existing update dialogs, it might be easier to start with them instead of the theme that you want to start out with.

The files wizard.dfm.* in each theme are tabula-rasa dialogs ready for further customization, so you could use them when building new dialogs off of an existing theme - be it for updates or any custom dialog you may need.

Thanks a lot for your detailed explanation.

That's what I like about InstallAware... flexibility.
