Run IDE Twice

Postby MarkElder » Thu Jul 09, 2009 6:20 pm

I have two setups that I need to compare side by side. Is there any way to open two setups at the same time?

With the processing power and size of today's monitors is there really any reason to restrict the IDE to only run once?

The IDE does support multiple instances.

However, Windows Installer will not permit two simultaneous instances.

So how do I get two IDEs to open at once? Clicking on the InstallAware start menu shortcut just switches me to the running instance. If I double click on a *.mpr file causes the current setup to close and the new one to open.

I am using InstallAware Version 9.

Hi, Mike!

Actually, you can! Go to the Options (MSICode tab) and mark checkbox named Run IDE twice. That'll do what you want i guess.

Hope this helps!

Great that is exactly what I was looking for. The checkbox is named
"Allow Multiple Instances of the InstallAware IDE"

Thanks!
