Folder rights

Postby Coder457 » Fri Jul 10, 2009 7:47 am

Hi,

I am a customer of InstallAware.

I have some issue and question regarding setting up access controls on folders.

As you know, administrator can restrict rights for users to install programs,
changes or deletes files and folders and similar. In this case my
application does not work due to access rights (as folder is not writable).

I need to give read and write access to user on target folder $TARGETDIR$
I have tried as above, but it does not work.
1. Is this correct option that I have selected (attached file)?
2. I would give this rights to Everyone? Does this option covers each
limited user that is created in Windows OS?
3. Should I check other option Grant Everyone Total Control?
4. In baloon tip says "If you notice that this command is having no effect,
just move this command after Apply Install in your MSIcode". When I click
MSIcode tab, it says it is only available in Developer version, so I am not
able to change it. How can I make this work correctly?
5. In my folder $TARGETDIR$\\Data is located database. I need to give read
and write to this folder also, because it will not work otherwise. Does
$TARGETDIR$ access permissions covers all subfolders, or I need to setup it
for this folder too.

I am sending picture that describes my questions above.

Please help, as I need to set it up correctly and this is quite usual to
have user limited rights in a company environment.

Regards,
