Create IIS Virtual Folder - ASP.NET 4.0

Postby stcvisix » Thu Jul 08, 2010 1:13 pm

I have upgraded to IA 9 R2 to get .NET 4.0 framework support. Our web applications have been upgraded to ASP.NET 4.0 but I cannot select ASP.NET 4.0 in the Create IIS Virtual Folder script command. I have reviewed the white papers and found no mention. Am I missing something really obvious? Thank You.

What happens when Default is selected?

Default behaves as expected, the ASP.NET version specified by the parent (web site in this case), is inherited. However, just because .NET 4 is installed doesn't mean that the root web site is using (or is allowed to use) ASP.NET 4 at a customer's location. My question really has to do with the Create IIS Virtual Folder ASP.NET version parameter values offered by the IA 9 R2 UX:

Default,
1.1.4322
2.0.50727

but no 4.0.30319 in the list. Is this ommission intentional? We can make the aspnet_regiis call part of our configuration wizard that launches AFTER the IA MSI but just wanted to make sure I'm not overlooking something obvious in IA.

I will need this feature too. I have clients where the default .NET runtime is still set to 2.0.

thanks!

This will be addressed in the next update - I have added it as a bug in our .NET 4 support.

Is there an anticipated date for the next update? I have held off on migrating from IA8 to IA9 because of this and I need to coordinate with my QA department when I upgrade a development tool. Knowing an approximate release date would allow me to schedule the upgrade at the right time.

thank you,

This is actually already in the latest update for InstallAware 9 R2 (9.1 SP3).
