.NET 1.1 installation fails if .NET 2.0 is already installed

Hi,

I'm having heavy troubles on machines, on which the .NET Framework 2.0 is installed: My applications are based on .NET 1.1 and the setup checks for this framework version. The detection of the version works very well but the install option of the .NET plugin doesn't install anything if the .NET Framework 2.0 is already installed (on plain installations without any .NET Framework everything works fine). You can reproduce this behaviour on a Windows 2000 machine with installed .NET Framework 2.0. The manual installation of .NET 1.1 works without any problems in this configuration!

Hope you can provide a solution for this problem.

Thank you,

Markus

Hi Markus!

Are you running the latest InstallAware? (5.31)
And, you are not applying any plug-in update packs, or similar, right?
Earlier releases and the very first plug-in update packs for 2.0 had these problems...please let us know!

Hi Michael,

I use the latest version of InstallAware (5.31). The .NET-plugin is dated with 02-06-2006 (version information is not available).

Thank you,

Markus

Hi Markus!

In an attempt to reproduce your problem, this is what I tried:

1) Start with Windows 2000.
2) Install Service Pack 4. Reboot.
3) Install MSI 3.0. Reboot.
4) Install .NET 2.0. Reboot.
5) Install .NET 1.1 (using InstallAware).

I had no problems during the installation of .NET 1.1 at all. Could you please provide more details on the issues you are running into?

SORRY !!!

Hello Michael,

I have found the problem by now: the created Web Medias weren't uploaded by the Build server on the Web server. The last upload was executed on 8-27-2005, so these Web Medias (and the included plugin dlls) had a very old version... :o

With the current version all works perfect :!:

I apologize for the arisen trouble and thank you very much for your support!

Thank you,

Markus

Not a problem at all, Markus! It is our pleasure to help you any way we can.

Also, some interesting news. The next update of InstallAware will contain native progress feedback for the .NET and JSharp runtime installers. Might make the setups a bit more appealing, especially on the .NET 2.0 front which typically takes for ever to install!
