Hi Usha,

What exactly do you mean by "remotely"? How exactly do you envision the installation process to happen?

hi giaviv .

thanks for u r reply...

here i am listing the process of installation...
let us assume that our product has 4 modules i.e module1(main),module2,module3,module4.
up to now we installed we installed these 4 modules on 4 different systems manually. Now the calls(requests) are routing from the module1(main)to other 3 modules.
i created a unified installer for 4 modules.i.e one click installer, which installs 4 modules at a time on one system. But here my requirement is need to install those four modules on 4 different server/client (based on Ip addrress) systems with unified installer.

To do this where should i change the script and what should i do....pls help me ....

thanks in Adv,
Usha

Hi,

You would probably have to use Group Policy, but that means that these PC's need to be inside a managed network. Are you familiar with Group Policy?

Hi Giaviv thanks for ur reply.
I don't know about Group Policy wizard. I tried to know about that by using "Help(F1)" in Install Aware. But I didn't understand.
My exact requirement is , I have 4 modules(Unified Installer) that I have to install on different machines with in a network. Customer have to ask for the IP address of remote machine where he is going to install a module.

Can U explain how to achieve this requirement using Group Policy Wizard. What is the internal mechanism involved in this ?

Thanks in advance

If I understand you correctly, InstallAware won't do what you want. In fact, I don't know of an installer anywhere that will do what you want. So, let's make sure we're all on the same page as to what you want to do:

You have 4 machines (Machine A, Machine B, Machine C and Machine D). You want to run your installer on Machine A, which will come up and ask you for the IP addresses of Machines B, C and D. Once it has the IP addresses, it will now go out and automatically install the appropriate modules on those machines and install the modules for Machine A, without the user having to log into the other machines. Does that sound correct?

If I'm right, then no, you can't do it, or at least I'm pretty positive you can't.

You could maybe hack something together by calling psecec from sysinternals.com inside your installer.
psexec is like a poor man's ssh.
Assuming the user has the proper rights to install on the other machines.

I don't know how to implement Group Policies, but I think it's better to go that way, and use psexec only as a last resort.
