Bug in Static Text Color when set to transparent.

Postby SteveDude » Tue Oct 23, 2012 11:49 am

Seems to be a bug in setting Static Text color.

In the dialog editor: If I change the color from Black to White, it works fine, but when I set it to transparent, the text goes back to black. All properties show the text being white, but it is not.

Looks like there is a newer build posted and am going to try that. I am using the first releaes version of NX.

Dear Steve,

Can you try to explain step by step how I can reproduce the problem you have?

Probably I missed your question, but I am able to set the font color as White of a "Text Label" with a transparent background.

Hi Francesco,

I'm using the current download of Studio Admin on a Win7 64 Bit box.

I have no problem with a "Label", but it is with "Static Text"

Steps to reproduce:

1.) Start with any of your Sample Themes, I chose Titanium.
2.) Open the destination dialog in the dialog editor.
3.) Select the TotalSpace Static Text. You will notice it is already white.
4.) With TotalSpace selected, Change Object Properties from Transparent = False to Transparent = True.

Result:

You will notice the text turns black immediately.

This hasn't been a major problem because on normal installations I have a solid color background and just set the background to match, but when the background is something else, such as a gradient this doesn't work well when I need white. What I did do for this on one project was just created a group box with a solid fill and made the static text background colors the same.

Thanks,

Steve

Has there been any update on this? I am on IA 18 and still see this issue, which is a problem as I have a gradient background and need to use a white text.

Thanks.

Dear hkeller,

alternatively you may use a "LABEL" or "GLOWLABEL" control.

Thanks Francesco, I used a glowlabel instead and that worked great.

I am having an issue when setting a GlowLabel to show progress text via receiving information from installation progress. The glowlabel is set to transparent since I have a gradient background as mentioned above, but when I run the actual installer that GlowLabel as well as one or two other Label objects randomly flash white throughout the installation progress step. Any insight on what could be causing this?

Thanks,
Hannah

Dear Hannah,

did you have any chance to send me a very "VERY" minimal project that replicates the issue?

Hi Francesco,

How should I send you my project? I can't seem to send a private message to you via this forum and I'd rather not post my installer here.

Thanks!

Hannah
