IA 5.3 and .net 1.1 SP1 issue

I'm seeing an issue with an installer saying "please insert disc" when it has to load SP1 for .net 1.1.

If no .net is installed it works fine, or if 1.1 with sp1 is installed it worked fine.

Any ideas?

That's an issue only when installing .net framework from a Uncompressed layout.. THere is no workaround as it is a Microsoft mistake on SP1 for 1.1 installer.. You can simply make it a web media block or use a self extracting exe to install it..

Specifically, even uncompressed layouts will work fine, but if you press the uncompressed setup onto a CD, you will experience this problem. This issue is documented in the help and the workaround is exactly what Gizmo recommends, which is only required when pressing to a CD.

Thanks for the info.. Just for clarification, is this an IA Issue or a microsoft bug?

If it MS, is there a KB article?

Unfortunately, a web block or single exe isn't an option and I need to be able to explain this to the powers that be.

This is a Windows Installer limitation. So its not a bug, but its a "feature". It demands to have an exact CD label text and if it is not found, it displays this error.
