Delphi IDE uses InstallAware as installer in last few releases (2010, XE, XE2, XE3, XE4, XE5). Using the normal setup.exe installation will copy a few GB of files into c:\programdata if you install all the IDE releases.
The installer consumes disk spaces quickly especially for users who use an SSD hard disk that is expensive.
Is it possible when run installaware installer without copying files to c:\ProgramData?
Is it advisable to delete those files manually after installation too?

Dear User,
unfortunately, this behavior can't be changed and those files should be not deleted as well ... you could have problem with un-installing the package.

Re: Installaware create files in %ProgramData% occupied spac
Hi there,
I have exactly the same problem. There are several hidden folders under %programdata% witch even exists further after an uninstallation.
Why do the folders exist after an complete uninstallation of our product?
Isnt there a way to fix this by deleting them myself or something?
On my computer these files take more than 20GB and i even didnt mention it until now?
Greetings,
Martin

Dear Martin,
those files have been stored by the application installed on your machine and they are related, to the cached setup sources files of each installed application. Depending on the appliaction, they can take more or less disk space.
Once an application is un-installed its folder should be automatically deleted.
Eventually, you can even force the folder deletion via script, once the application un-install process is completed.

Re: Installaware create files in %ProgramData% occupied space
Hi all,
I've just posted some other comments about this (sorry for the spam ), and it seems this is closer to what I need.
I'd just would like to get rid of all the folders/files IA leaves in ProgramData after uninstall (~0, {id}, xxx.mia,...).
BTW, is there a way to change the name of that {id} folder? I'd like the user to know that that is the folder that contains our software data.
Thank you very much in advance.
