Not Enough Timers

This a problem that has plagued our installers for over a year. It even happened for InstallAware's OWN web updater client that checks for updates to our InstallAware installations. We accepted it as a bug in the product that would get fixed in the next version. Unfortunately we just upgraded to 18 and the problem is still happening.
When our batch job runs at night and detects a new version available, we have a script (based mostly on the template script that comes with IA) which issues a MessageBalloon command and then sends the app to the sys tray. It all works fine. Except if this occurs overnight. It seems that something is using up resources and eventually "runs out of timers" throwing up a messagebox to that effect. It's annoying our customers and we want to resolve this finally.
Can anyone offer any suggestions? I have seen others complain about this on here. This post talks heavily about it from back in 2012 and it ends with no resolution from IA
