InstallShield 12 import funktions ?

Hi,

we currently use InstallShield 12 as our setup authoring tool. We have some problems to find a licencing solution with InstallShield and so we need to swith to an other tool.
Does InstallAware support a InstallShild (12) import ? Or a special support for customers who want to switch from IS to IA ?

Hi,

Unfortunately because of the opaque format of InstallShield projects, we do not have an automated import tool. We do provide several tools to migrate your setups, however:

1) PackageAware: This tool works by taking pre-install and post-install snapshots of the system, and encapsulates the delta between the two snapshots into a ready-to-build InstallAware project.

2) Database Import Wizard: This tool directly imports an existing MSI or MSM file into a ready-to-build InstallAware project.

While these tools are great, we do usually recommend that you build your setup from scratch. This is so that you take advantage of InstallAware's unique features, such as partial web deploy, and easy MSIcode scripting, which will not be immediately apparent if you use a converter.
