InstallAware Installation Fails

Postby Chim » Thu Jan 04, 2007 12:36 pm

I am currently trying InstallAware.

I had previously installed the Developer InstallAware version but realised I needed a feature in the Studio version.
I uninstalled the Developer version and reinstalled with the Studio version
option.

The installation repeatedly returns the message: Extraction of the data downloaded from the web has failed. The option is given to retry the download or the extract but regardles of the option chosen, the message simply comes back up again.

Any idea why?

I had the same problem. I resolved it by downloading the latest code from the web site...

Sorry for the inconvenience. 6.12 was a bad build - this issue has been resolved in the current 6.13 build.

If you are seeing this error with 6.13, it means:

1) You are out of free disk space,
2) The downloaded data is really corrupt,

So you may want to download again, or try the single file build if you keep running into issues.

The single file installer works. But the downloads are corrupt. I use IE 7 and can download files...

It is possible that your ISV or someone in between has cached the files. At any rate the download files have also been updated to the new 6.14, this week's latest build.

Can you please repeat the download after you

- cleaned up all temp files (enter %TEMP% in explorer address bar and remove all files)
- cleaned up all offline data in IE7

No chance! I have deleted all tempfiles and the extraction of the downloaded files fails???
The download of the main setup file is ok but the webmedia-parts fails. Now I have the problem that my setups dont work

Ok, don't know what went wrong here - use the single file installer to get your setups working again.

I have found the problem! When I download files with the extension 7zip from my space bei Strato.de the download fails. I have changed the extensions from 7zip to zip und the downloads are ok.

That's interesting - I wasn't aware InstallAware files were hosted on MySpace?
