InstallAware 6.22 Update

Postby CandiceJones » Wed Jan 31, 2007 12:27 am

* XML Paper Specification and Windows Imaging Component have been added to the standard .NET 3 Framework installation. These are optional components and can be removed by commenting out the necessary places in the latest setup script for the framework.

* Occasionally, a patch could prompt twice for setup sources, or could prompt for setup sources even though the target of the patch was a web build. These erroneous prompts have been fixed.

* Multiple calls to Apply Install after an initial call to Transform Instance caused problems, such as the orphaning of files during an uninstallation. Only the first call to Apply Install was safe. Now, multiple calls to Apply Install are safe after a call to Transform Instance.

* Multi-lingual patches displayed an erroneous language selection dialog box. They now correctly default to the language of the installed base version on the system.

* The default update script is no longer excluded to compile during a patch build. This made it harder for the Windows Installer engine to create patches for projects that used web update capability.

* Patches would occasionally lose information about the existing installation, if the installation was a "just me" install. This issue has been resolved.

* Duplicate setup information files were occasionally saved in incorrect locations during patching of installations with persistent variables, there are no longer any incorrect duplicates.

* Very large patch files caused out of memory errors during build - these errors have now been resolved.

* Compiler Variables are now re-substituted during the execution of localized setups. The re-substitutions have effect for localized script commands only.

* Using the special variable $NEWLINE$ inside values of persistent variables caused loss of saved setup information during restart of setup. These persistent variables are now safely saved.

* Progress dialogs are now automatically updated during script flow whenever the PROGRESS or PROGRESSTEXT variables are updated.

* Logo suite program tests have been updated with the latest test files from the Windows 6.0 SDK.

* The setup engine has been optimized to perform smoothly for setups containing thousands of lines of MSIcode script - a near 10x improvement over the previous versions.

* Multiple instance dialog editors are now available as an option.

* The command line build tool now ignores the debug build project setting during a command line build.
