Two questions - Auto-update and scheduling installs

Good morning,
I got my hands on IA only yesterday, but have been reading as much as I can. I have searched for answers to the following questions but have not found anything that addresses them, at least as far as I can tell.
1) I have seen comments about auto-update, but with all of our workforce remote, what we are looking for is something that will automatically kick of the update without user control. For example, when our application starts, can we kick of an IA process to upgrade the application if there is an patch/update? Is this something auto-update can do?
2) What we don't want is all 500 remote users updating all at once, so is there a way to "pool" updates? Meaning, being able to limit how many are patching/updating at a given time?
Thanks,
Scott
