Run Program before the Installations starts

Hi,
I'm currently trying the evaluation version of InstallAware Express and want to start a self developed program before the installation starts. If the program returns with another exit code than 0 the installation should abort.
My first problem was to start the program before the start of the installation, because I was not able to find a way to add a file to the "support files" storage (which seems to be required for starting a programm before the start of the installation process).
The next problem is to abort the setup, if the exit code of the started application is not equal 0.
The budget of the project is to small for any InstallAware Edition higher then Express.
Perhaps one of you has an idea how to solve this problem with the Express Edition of the product.
