Automatic Updating

Postby bobtcny » Thu Oct 28, 2010 1:35 pm

I am evaluating InstallAware to use so that we can make updates available via the web. One of the requirements we have is that the scheduled task be created automatically by the install and that it automatically download and install updates without user involvement. I have found some postings that seems to indicate something like this would be available in version 9. When I created an install and added the option for web updates and checking the windows scheduler radio button, there was no opiton to create the task during the install. Does version 9 have this capability and the option to automatically download and install updates?

The way that script is designed, users will not be prompted to schedule updates until the next time they logon. After you check off to enable updates, an updates script will appear in your MSIcode view. You may edit the script to suit your requirements if needed.
