What I would like to be able to do is to create virtual apps from existing installed software and be able to run them from my flash drive without leaving traces on the target pc that the software has run.

What version will I need?

Also if the existing software is on a win 7 x64 machine what need I do to make it run on an xp pc?

You can run your virualized app from a flash drive without any problem.

It should work without problems but of course it depends also, on how your software works.
