Attractive Theme loses Object

Postby jtoledano » Fri Jul 23, 2010 10:45 am

I am using the Attractive them. On the very last dialog in the sequence, Finish, I disabled the object to have the user launch the application when you click the finish button. What I didn't do was also set visible to False, so not the object is disabled, but visible. When I go into the dialog editor, the text for the object is gone and I can see the blue bar of where the object should be, but I can no longer select this object, and set visible to false. Any way to get this back without reloading the entire theme and losing my changes?

I wasn't able to reproduce this using regular label controls on an empty form (the actual theme does not matter).

Can you let me know what control you disabled and can no longer select?

Also, tabbing might work - did you try selecting another control and then tabbing to the one you disabled?

Thanks Michael,

The last dialog on the Attractive theme is "Finish". In the center of the dialog are two objects, Launch Program and Reboot. The Reboot object is there and I can select it. However, the Launch Program object is not visible, the blue background object is, but it is not selectable. Although it is not visible in the editor, it does show up during the installation process, but it is disabled.

I tried tabbing through the dialog and it does not pick up this object.

I was able to reproduce this. It appears to happen with check boxes and radio buttons. Note, it happens on all themes.

Steps:
- Start a new project; choose Basic Setup.
- Under the Design Tab, choose Dialogs under User Interface (in left panel)
- Highlight any dialog in the Dialog Sequence that contains a check box or radio button. Click the Edit button.
- Set the Visible property to false for [any number of] check box(es) or radio button(s).
- Close/Save the dialog.
- Click the Edit button again to bring the dialog editor back up with that dialog.

Notice that the control becomes invisible or becomes a solid color matching the form's background color, depending on the theme.

Work-around:
Reload the theme. (change the theme, selecting the same one you previously selected to restore its original settings)

I have now encountered the same condition. Reloading the theme is not a desireable option now that I have a number of hours into formatting this one for our company logo's. All I want to do is get rid of the startup command line on the setup. Any ideas?

Paul, could you place a label that matches the background cover over the checkbox to hide it?

I had the same problem in IA 9R2 and didn't want to re-load my theme. I program in Delphi, so I was able to open up "finish.dfm" in Delphi, by double clicking on the file. I then removed the text relating to my checkboxes that I wanted to remove. I also edited "finish.dfm.miaf" with a text editor to remove some logic it had relating to my checkboxes.

A ".dfm" file is a Delphi form, which is what you see when you edit the dialog.

Hope this helps somebody.
