Hi,
I'm evaluating the IA12, and I need to install .NET 4.0 (full) runtimes.
Until now I've used the installer provided by Microsoft, which is a single 48Mb exe file that support both 32/64bit platforms.
I've try to use the runtimes provided by IA, but in this case I've to manage 4 different 7zip files, with a total size of 177Mb.
Why there is such a big difference? Are you providing more support files (WIC and ...)?
Do I need to add both client and full components to my setup?
In a web deployment build there is also a "data" folder, is needed? I've found different answer about searching on this forum.
It's clear that if I use the installer provided by Microsoft with a "run app" action I'll loose UI integration, but download size is relevant for my procedure.
I'm doing something wrong?
Thanks in advance
.NET Framework 4.0

Re: .NET Framework 4.0
Dear User,
for what I know IntallAware 2012 comes with full runtime installation for NET 4.0.
Could you please tell me which is the file provided by Microsoft you used in your comparison(possibly the link)?

Re: .NET Framework 4.0
Dear User,
the link you provided for NET runtimes is a compressed package that ones extracted, this match as size with those that comes as runtimes with InstallAware.
The runtimes sources provided by InstallAware are located under the Runtimes subfolder of InstallAware Installation Directory.
By default when the NET runtime is added to IA project, this includes the selection of additional rutimes that could be required during installation (es. Win Installer Engine). If you leave the net runtime only and build your project as Compressed (single Exe), the executable size will be not that big.
Anyway, InstallAware uses the same runtimes provided by their official distribution but if you prefer, you can include any alternative runtime as you like.
Hope this helps you.

Re: .NET Framework 4.0
For us these .NET 4 packages have never worked and always we have to uninstall them and reinstall the 48mb Microsoft package and after it always works?
Do you have an undated version of the packages that work?

InstallAware 15 has no known issues - you should not be having any problems.
