Project wizard - guidance on Edit Registry panel

Postby JohnO » Fri Jun 21, 2013 4:51 am

I am defining an installer using the Project Wizard (used Quick Start first time).
I have got to the Edit Registry panel and I have no idea if or why I would make entries here.
The Help explains the mechanics, but not the reasons for choosing target keys.

I think the Quick Start wizard did make some entries behind the scenes. Is there some 'why' type of guidance you could point me at?

Dear John,

Of course, the setup package will create some registry entries behind the scenes during installation.
Unless you need them, if for example these entries are required by your application, you don't need to add any additional key.

Francesco
Thanks. As I have never had the opportunity to add registry entries, I'm at a bit of a loss to know how we could benefit from this. Maybe time will tell. I'll see if a Google search can provide inspiration. This is whole new area for me.

Regards, John
