Feedback - no overall progress indicator for downloads

Postby JohnO » Thu Jun 20, 2013 6:29 am

Hello
I'm installing the trial product IA16 Studio edition, and to be safe I elected to download everything (via the Choose features) panel, even though I don't think I need any or many of them. Right now, I wish I hadn't, because it is taking a long time, but I have no idea how far I am through the whole installation. If there was an additional 'total' progress bar, I could easily decide whether to cancel this install and restart it but with only the features I think I need.

This begs the question, can IA show two progress bars: one overall and one current?

Regards, John

Dear John,

... of course you can add an additional progress bar to your Progress Dialog.

Thanks Francesco.
Silly me to even think it wasn't possible :)
But it would be very helpful if your installer used it.

... By the way,

The InstallAware setup itself does display global progress feedback on the Windows 7/8 taskbar using the global variables that permit such display.

The IA predefined variables that control this functionality are; CUSTOM_TASKBAR_PROGRESS_ENABLED, CUSTOM_TASKBAR_PROGRESS_MAX & CUSTOM_TASKBAR_PROGRESS_PERCENT.

Please refer to IA documentation for more details.
