Interesting. I ran the setup.exe program and almost immediately got an error message:

"Setup has detected that this computer does not meet the requirements to complete this operation. The following blocking issues must be resolved before you can proceed."

Blocking Issues:

You cannot use this setup program to install the .NET framework. For more information see the Readme file.

Please see Microsoft .Net Framework 4 setup readme for more information.

I'm not sure if you have any tips on how to get more info on why this setup can't be used... I'm going to read through the readme and see if anything jumps out at me.

Ok, so reading through the setup log in the temp directory I have found:

Global Block Checks: StopBlockers evaluated to true.
Final Result: Installation failed with error code (0x000013EC), "A stop block was hit or a System Requirement was not met"

Do you have any info on what 0x000013EC is all about?

Are you able to install this on your target machine?

I have the same problem on a fresh install Windows 7 x64 in a VM-Machine.

If i use the installer for .net 4 from Microsoft all runs without problems.

Dear Marcel,

Please note that the installer you are using to install .NET is probably different than what IA uses.

Please try installing .NET from the binary that IA is using - its located in Program Files\InstallAware\InstallAware X\runtimes\net40bin_x64.
Run the setup.exe there (with the content alongside it of course) on your target machine, and let me know if it succeeds.

Sorry I haven't got back to you on the last test you asked me to to. Got side tracked onto another project. I'll be back looking at this next week.

I use now the .NET from the binary that IA is using, it produce the attached log-file.

Perhaps this helps you do identify the error (sorry, the log is in german since i tried on a german machine, hope is help anyway).

I can't really make a lot of this log you attached - maybe ask on a Microsoft forum?

Just thought I'd let you know that since I upgraded to InstallAware 11 I am no longer having issues installing the .NET 4 framework on Win 7 64 bit machines.

The only way to know would be to simply test it out - we no longer have version 10 to test with, but you are more than welcome to.
