Hi Michael,
You are absolutely wright about the hooks that AV is doing. I'm not sure that it's a bug in it's checking, however.
I'm not saying that it's some kind of IA bug, no. Please, forgive me if it was sounded like that.
All I ask is that if it will be possible to implement a custom timeout set, that will be great.
You also said that IA has it's own download engine. It would be great to have opportunity to select which engine to use either. A precompiler variable would be sufficient for this, i think.
However, if it will be possible to select the engine at runtime, that will be fantastic. If one engine fails with download, then another can succeed. The probability that both engine will succeed, imo, is greater than the probability of success of single download engine.
As I said before, it would be great to have such features in the box. This will make software more flexible, in certain situations it will help us, developers, using IA, to outcome problems, which cannot be predicted during IA development. This is just a suggestion

.
Have a nice day!

I completely agree that this is a great suggestion. Already on the wish-list.
The engine fallback is already in place, BTW

However the fallback occurs if the IE engine is not present. The custom engine requires manual proxy input and has in tests proven a lot less reliable.

I replicated the Antivirus + download web media issue and tried to set the
MYAH_TIMEOUT in the MSICode, but none of the changes I do get reflected
I tried to
Set Persistent Variavle MYAH_TIMEOUT to 0
but it still times out after 10 seconds... this is really stupid.
Please HELP!

What is the value of the registry key:
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-2251524036-1288846078-3091220402-1000\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ReceiveTimeout

I am still having this issue with IA 9 R2. After pouring through all the comments in this field, I am glad you finally decided to restore the original setting of the ReceiveTimeout key after the install is done.
However, I think you do not account for a download failing. I had the installaware automatic updater popping up every so often aking me to update IA studio. I would do this, but the install always failed for whatever reason. I don't care about this, but as a result of this failure, the ReceiveTimeout setting is left as 10 seconds... which as previously mentioned in this post, is very bad.
I have turned off the auto updater, but this is something that still needs fixing if the download fails. Thanks.

A download failure would not cause the setting to not be restored. I think it is possible your updater was compiled with an older version of the InstallAware engine which might be causing this issue. It is unrelated to download failures. The value will be restored successfully in all cases.

Upon further research, it looks like we may have had a regression here. Can the community comment on whether you are seeing regression to 9.X (pre R2) behavior with this functionality?
Given how sensitive the community is about this, we've already issued a hotfix for this issue.
All licensed customers may immediately obtain the hotfix by regenerating and reinstalling their license file. This will apply the hotfix. Please let us know if there's any further issues.
The hotfix will of course be inlined into the main distribution as part of the next scheduled update.

I've just recently discovered this in my new installer (unfortunately just released to the public). It is a web-based installer. My test system is a Windows XP Sp3 VM. I'm running Install aware 10 (build mooya.rtm.51110). I'm going to try updating to 10.10, re-building and trying again. I'll also be testing Vista and Win7 VMs as well.

Dear tobyteel,
Thank you. Please let me know what you find out.

Upgrading to 10.10 seems to have fixed this in my installer. Tested installs on WinXP SP3, Vista Pro SP2, and Win7 pro. They all were running IE 8.
Hopefully most InstallAware users actually get the automated updates (unlike me, though maybe I should turn that back on).
