Write into Text File - Unicode

Howdy again,

I'm trying to create a SQL Express UDL file at the end of my installation. The problem is that UDL files are Unicode, and the Write to Text file saves as ASCII. Is there a better way to go?

The text I need to insert is:

[oledb]$NEWLINE$; Everything after this line is an OLE DB initstring$NEWLINE$Provider=SQLNCLI.1;Password=super;Persist Security Info=True;User ID=sup;Initial Catalog=001;Data Source=$SELECTEDSERVER$$NEWLINE$

Thanks for looking.

Hi Mitch,

Sorry, you cannot use this command to insert UNICODE lines into text files. ANSI only. Just wanted to clarify that.

I have the exact same need. Is there a simple way to do this through the Call DLL Function plug-in or other means? This would seem to be a fairly comon installer operation.

Thanks,

Eric

The EDIT XML functionality also loses a lot of XML information due to this lack of Unicode support. If Microsoft has stopped supporting the OS, InstallAware should too. (You could just provide customers who require Legacy OS support with IA 2012...)
