Hi,
The Run Programm after installation doesnt work as expected for me.
is there a trick, how i can get the app not starting in background?
my starting window is relatively small, and so its hiding behind the Explorer Window, when the Setup was called from Explorer (opposed to Autorun Feature of Setup-CD).
any help on this topic is highly appreciated.
Thnx.
Stefan

It does not do anything to start your app in the background, I'm afraid. You can try using Run Program As (leaving the user fields empty) and see if that helps?

Even when I use "Run Program As" (both admin and de-elevated privileges) , my splash screen/Application run behind any already-open windows. Is there anyway to "Bring to front"?
It launches fine when not launched from the installer (On top as expected).

Please try leaving the user field blank in the Run Program As command window an let me know if that helps.

The User Name, Password, and Domain are disabled...and they are blank. I'm running InstallAware Developer (this feature may be disabled).

Could you please try running another program, like notepad for example, and seeing what happens?
Thanks!

notepad.exe behaves the same as my application. However, I've noticed that (when launching them from the installer). sometimes both will show up as front most...and other times as rear most windows. I'm trying to figure out what causes them to behave as such, but it seems random to me. Things I have tried thusfar:
Opening new windows during installation process
Changing active windows during installation process
Minimizing/Maximizing/Docking(Windows 7) windows
Only interacting with Installation dialogues.
So far I can't get a steady reproducible result. I'll keep trying.
One thing to note is that I'm launching the app with "Run Program As..." in UNELEVATED mode (this is why some fields (i.e. User) are greyed out)

Thanks Sean,
I have been unable to reproduce this here, but let me know what you find out.

It turns out that this symptom does not manifest in Windows XP. I have a Software Quality Engineer testing different operating systems (XP, Vista, 7 ...with 32-bit and 64-bit) scenarios to see what he gets.
Have you tried this on Windows 7?
