Copy Local Files recursively?

Hi everyone,

is there a possibility to copy local files recursively, the same way delete files recursively is intended to work?
I intend to copy library files from multiple cds, which are quite a lot.
I really need a way of doing that, copying file by file is really no option. But so far, I could not find anything about it.

Thanks for any help.

This isn't covered by Windows Installer. That's why the existing MSIcode command is non-recursive.

So there is no way to copy files from multiple cds to the hard drive without specifiyng each file separately? Seems like this could be a strong argument against InstallAware for us.

As I have already explained, you won't be able to do this with any Windows Installer tool, regardless of vendor, if the files aren't an original part of your setup package.

Yes, I understood your post. It's just that it's a bit weird that there is no workaround, custom action or anything that can be done.

Thanks for your answers,

Stefan,

you can always create a custom plug-in and you can exactly match your requirements.

Well, so I would need to write a program that does recursive file copy and export that function, so I can call it with Call DLL? Why isn't something like that included with InstallAware?

What about calling xcopy?

A custom action would involve writing your own code anyway.

What if the files WERE apart of the setup package, via the File Bag plugin. Would it be possible to copy and entire directory structure without having to manually create each individual directory?
