Help Including Borland Database Engine with InstallAware6

Hello. I've just upgraded to Delphi 2007 Professional which contains InstallAware6 Express. I've had years of experience and success with InstallShield that came with Delphi 7.0 Professional.

I need to create an installation disk for an application that included the Borland Database Engine (BDE). In the past, I had to use Objects/Merge Module under the 'Specify Application Data' header and check the box next to BDE_PRO.

I've tried a number of things with InstallAware6 to include the shared BDE but without sucess. Can someone tell me how this is done. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sorry to have wasted bandwidth but I now have a working solution for including the BDE shared files with my build of the installation disk using InstallAware.

Thanks to any who may have been giving my problem any thought.

Can you tell me how you have solved this? I have the same problem.

I'll need to look at my notes on what I did. It seems I needed to copy a file to my new computer to make it work.

Here is how I made it work. You need to have a copy of BDE_PRO.msm on your computer. I had to download it from the CodeGear web site at
www.codegear.com/downloads/regusers/delphi

About half way down the page is the download link for DBE Merge Module. Down load this module onto your harddrive. I put mine in the

c:\\program files\\Common Files\\MergeModules directory to make it easy to find.

Once the module is in place, start a new project with InstallAware. I don't know what the columns on the left are but the read:

Application Information
Setup Architecture
User Interface
Advanced Options
Server Configuration
Deployment
Web Updates

Click on the Delployment to expand it if it's not already expanded. Under this topic, you will see one of the options is Merge Modules. You'll get a blank screen showing the Merge Modules with an Add button in the lower right side of the screen. Click on Add and browse to the directory you put the BDE_PRO.msm module in. Find the BDE_PRO.msm module in the list and double click it to add it to your InstallAware project. When you build your project, the installation disk you've created for your application should now also install the BDE files you need to run your program.

Is this clear as mud? Good luck.
