Hi,
I was wondering what is the difference between updating and patching? Does the end-user have to click on a button to check for an update/patch or will the program check for an update/patch on a regular timed basis? Thanks!

An update basically is a complete new installation of a product, that means, it will first uninstall the old version to install the new one. In the other hand, a patch will only apply the changes to make the old version look like a newer version.
Does the end-user have to click on a button to check for an update/patch or will the program check for an update/patch on a regular timed basis?
The users gets to setup this after installation if you check the "Receive Application Updates" checkbox in the Project Properties.

Hi Alex,
Thanks for the info. =)
The users gets to setup this after installation if you check the "Receive Application Updates" checkbox in the Project Properties.
I was wondering, does this apply to updates only, or does it apply to both patches and updates? And, how often does the application check for an update if 'Receive Application Updates' is checked? Thanks!

It applies for both. You can setup the web updates to include both patches and full updates. How often? That is decided by the end user when installing the product. Updates setup dialogs appear at the end of the installation, the same way you did when you installed IA in your computer.

Hi Alex,
Thanks again for the quick reply. =)
Once the end-user chooses how often to update, is there an API or some way for them to change this later on if they decide they want to update more often or less often?
Does each new update/patch have the same dialog at the very end for them to change how often they would like to update/patch?
Thanks!
