Upgrading shared DLLs

Hi,
I have a family of related products with a core set of shared executables (apps and DLLs). I have created a parameterised installer which includes these core executables plus the appropriate product-specific files.
I had assumed that these executables would be upgraded if the version in an installer is greater than the version on disk, but that doesn't seem to be the case, and I can't find the option to turn it on (in InstallShield it was a list of options: Always Overwrite, Never Overwrite, Overwrite if newer date, Overwrite if newer Version, Overwrite if newer version and Date).
How do I enable this behaviour?
Thank you,
Ian Brockbank
